AI is Changing Our Creative Process
Generative artificial intelligence is taking hold in the creative sectors with a force unseen in previous technological revolutions. From the printing press to design software, tools have always sought to better translate human ideas. With large language models and image generators, the relationship is changing: technology participates in creation instead of merely executing it.
From Solitary to Shared Creation
Creativity has long been considered a purely individual capacity. Generative AI paves the way for collaborative work where human and machine explore artistic, conceptual, and narrative possibilities together that neither would have achieved alone.
The creator's role is shifting: less technical execution, more art direction, critical thinking, and the ability to pilot AI production tools. AI stimulates the imagination, broadens possibilities, and generates concepts that would not have emerged otherwise.
Choosing is Creating
Faced with the mass of content produced by AI, one role becomes essential: knowing how to choose, organise, and assemble with relevance. In this environment saturated with proposals, selecting what makes sense is a creative act in its own right.
The question of authorship then arises directly. This is where the creator's taste, experience, and culture come into play; this "third brain" forged by years of practice and references. Among thousands of generated variations, it is they who recognise the one that resonates, that serves the story as much as it moves the audience.
New Skills
The rise of generative AI requires a deeper transformation than simply adopting new tools. The key skill emerging is contextual intelligence: identifying when and how AI adds value, without degrading the quality of the result or alienating end users.
Knowing how to formulate effective instructions for an AI has become a profession in itself. Prompt engineering relies on distinct approaches: zero-shot (a task without examples), few-shot (a few calibrated examples to guide tone or logic), and chain-of-thought, which forces the AI to reason step-by-step to reduce errors.
When AI produces content in seconds, evaluating what it generates becomes an essential skill. Human review remains the only guarantee of accuracy, consistency, and ethical alignment.
Conclusion
In all sectors, the same shift is observed: value lies in conceptualisation, direction, judgement, and selection. The creator of tomorrow pilots AI, chooses from its proposals, and gives them meaning. What matters in this new environment is what no model can generate: critical thinking, empathy, taste forged by experience, and a clear ethical vision. The challenge is ensuring the machine remains at the service of humanity.
